lol It's been bugging me but I kept forgetting to ask. Every time I would see a pic of that area I'd what the heck is that for?

Today was idiot day at Lowe's of Morehead City. I went to pick up the sink I ordered. While I was there, I went to the paint dept to get another gallon of paint (cans are only 124ozs now, opposed to a true gallon of 128ozs.) Maroon at the paint dept informs me he can't mix my color in the brand I specified... Um, I just bought a gallon last month without issue. It's the same color you mixed, in the same brand as you mixed for me for the past 7 years... He finally agrees and off I go to the lumber/moulding dept. I need an 8ft piece of doorway jamb. 2nd maroon tells me there is no such animal and besides a doorway that large is against code and to not waste my gas, I won't be finding any such item anywhere. Um, okay. Next to the lighting dept, where I see a fixture I like and then I'm off to the cash register. Check out, go on my merry way and visit Creative Lighting, Kitchen & Bath. I find the knobs & drawer pulls I absolutely love. Um, $6 for each knob (I need 27) and $7 for each drawer pull. Um, no thank you and off I goout of the store, ready to have a meltdown. On the way back through MHC, I stop at Guy C Lee building supply. I go in, inquire about the moulding I need. He proceeds to tell me they don't carry any type of door jamb moulding. He must have seen the look on my face, tells me to hold on, makes a phone call and send me to Morehead building supply! Score, they have what I need and I'm back on my merry way. Get home, husband is here, I ask him to hang the light so I can see how bright it is (it wasn't on in Lowe's, so I had no idea). He puts it up - it's effectively an $85 night light... So, by now, I'm about ready to start crying. Today was pretty much a waste - I really didn't accompish all that I wanted to do today. Jumped on line, just a few minutes ago and googled the knobs/pulls I love... I find them for$3.98 for the pulls and $2.78 for the knobs! SCORE! Knobs: Matching drawer pulls: Oh, and the $85 night light that's going back... ;D

Every time I go into Lowe's or Home Depot I've always had a bad experience when I ask someone for help. It's like just because I have a vagina they think I'm an idiot and of course since they work there they know every thing.

The light takes 2 halogen bulbs 25 watt max. The bulbs were included. Plus, the ceiling where the light goes is a mess... There was a medallion on the ceiling, above the ceiling fan, hiding this: We painted over the cracks, but may have to repair the ceiling. When husband put the light up, the light box is kind of pushed into the ceiling and really needs to be brought down. The circular mark on the ceiling is the outline where the medallion was.

At least when you go back to return the light you can find the guy who told you that the door jamb doesnt exist and kindly tell him to shove it up his ass because the building supply place had it. Silver lining? I think so.

My Aunt works in a lighting store. I emailed her today to see if she could keep an eye out for a floor lamp. All the lamps that she has given me are $200-$300 lamps that the manufacturer wouldn't take back and they couldn't sell because of minor damage.

LOL, my youngest emailed me today asking if we had any spare lamps she could have for her apartment. I told her to try the thrift stores.
I know where you could look.....the habitat for humanity resale store. Sometimes builders donate their leftovers and items from cancelled projects. We have found some awesome (brand new still in the box) faucet fixtures there.

Still laughing at the "no such thing as 8' door jamb" and "not in code". What a dumbass.

I decided on the second light from above.
Not having a good day today painting the fronts of the cabinet doors.
I've been using a paint pad to get a smooth, glass like finish. Today, the paint pad decided to disintegrate... Now I have all these fibers in the paint.
I'm hoping a second coat will cover up the mess... If not, husband is NOT going to be happy to sand them down... :-(

I'm having trouble picturing the result you're going for. What style/theme are you doing?
I like the first light fixture but think you need to go totally modern/trendy to make it work. I despise the other 2, they look like midgrade hotel shit.

I'm trying to update a kitchen with 70's cabinets, without making it look "I'm too cheap to go for new cabinets", so anything that is being replaced has a transitional look to it.
I AM a modern/trendy kinda gal, but I have to take into consideration the house is a 70's house and will always have a "vintage" feel without a total gut of the house.
If we still lived out in Cherry Branch, my kitchen would be SO rocking that first light fixture!
