I have a corded phone in the event the power goes out.
I do have a cordless in the bedroom, but I get a lot of interference/static on it from all the electronics on this side of the house, so I only pick it up if I'm in the bedroom.
It's an older phone and it probably isn't the right mhz or whatever it's called.

Aw man I was thinking sledgehammer time, LOL!
I do have a question? No vent or range hood over the stove? I only ask because my Mom and wood anywhere near her stove aren't a good combination!

Kitchen hasn't had one since we moved in 7 yrs ago.
I thought about and I'm going with the microwave/range hood combo over the stove.
We were going to do a complete renovation but decided we didn't want to put that kind of money into the kitchen after all.
Our goal is to eventually buy another home and rent out this one. Can easily get $1200 a month. Smaller homes in this neighborhood are renting for that much. We have 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 car garage, separate living room, dining room, den, kitchen, sunroom plus another small room off the kitchen that we use as an office. House sits right on the golf course. Also a large deck off the sunroom and a big yard with a 10 X 12 shed.

Yes, stace it is, that's why we're doing a makeover!
We've lived with it for 7 years. When we bought this house, it was the only thing that wasn't updated/remodeled.
When we bought, everything else was already taken care of. The windows, roof and bathrooms were all replaced.
The rest of the house looks NOTHING like the kitchen!

See the wall on the left side of the pic? Well, husband decided at least part of it needs to come down. As of right now, he's cutting a sideways "U" shape out of it, to open up the kitchen. If I don't like it, he'll remove the top part towards the ceiling. If I still don't like it, he'll remove the bottom and make the wall straight... Hoping you can picture it. If not, I'll post pics tonight/tomorrow.

Is the fridge staying in that location? If it is I would almost say just leave the wall....

That's an awfully thick wall, is he absolutely sure it's not a load bearing wall? ??

It's not a load bearing wall. The wall is 5 1/2 ft and sticks out into the kitchen. It's just a standard thickness. I'm so silly some times. He didn't cut a "U" into the wall, it's a "C". LOL! Wall is cut to just in front of the fridge doors. I think I want him to remove the rest and just make it a straight wall... The cut is just over 2ft into the wall. He wants to put a shelf on top of the cut out, just the width of the wall. Kind of like a window sill.

Rut roh...
Husband now decided the top part of the wall needs to come off the ceiling.
It's now going from a "C" shape to an "L" shape...
