I also think people who feel the need to preach and spread "the word of god" are full of themselves. Who the hell do you think you? What makes you think god would pick you out of all the people on the planet? You are no better than the person next to you. Save your judging. That is a general you. That is Biblical to go out and witness (as in teach about) to others about God. They're not being full of themselves. Well, I'm sure some are, but that isn't the purpose of it. I feel that "witnessing" is a calling and only certain people should do it. |

I don't like when Christians use the Bible, their religion, to justify bigotry, but that's not exclusive to Christianity either.
I think someone calling him a moron for what he said is far kinder than what his opinion on gays are.

Actually if you are a Christian who feels this way I am judging you. I know lots of Christians who don't. They are Chritain and support gays and gay rights. Being a Christain and being against homosexuallity are not mutual.
And I never said anything disparaging about any Christian on here. Just the kind Kirk is and others like him. There are all kinds of Christains who practice in their own ways. I'm pretty sure 75% percent of the people I know are practicing Christains. I do not judge them for that. If the use the religion as a tool to discriminate then that's a different story.

Oh, I hate the whole 'hate the sin, not the sinner' stuff.
Over Xmas, some holier than thou lady told me I don't understand the 'true' meaning of Xmas because I haven't accepted Jesus as my lord and savior. I didn't know I needed to to understand that Xmas is a ripoff of Saturnalia, and was used to convert Pagans. I get that Xmas is the holiday Christians use to celebrate Jesus' birth, that's fine. It's when some get all upset about other people celebrating that annoys me.

Last time I checked I never shoved my religion down anyones throat and quite often tolerate the HATE that labels my beliefs but I TOLERATE others bullshit because ultimately it doesnt affect me or my belief in Christ. And that door swings both ways. To judge someone based on their religion is no different than doing it because of their sexual orientation.

My mom and sister are JW's and the only Christian people who've never shoved their beliefs down my throat. Ditto to my Mormon friends. I think the true meaning of the bible has been lost through the numerous translations it has gone through.
The original text probably reads a lot different then the current day version.
When things are translated from one language to the next and there isn't an exact translation, the person translating INTERPRETS it as they see fit.

Calling me judgemental because I'm taking up for a group of people who routinely get shit on and no one cares and thinks its okay. Yeah then I'm judgemental. So glad none of you were alive in the 60's. We'd still be drinking out of different water fountains because religious zealots thought the races shouldn't mix.

I will raise my daughter to love all people no matter race, religion, or sexual orientation. I will never teach her that any kind of love is wrong or "unnatural".
And this will make you roll your eyes I'm sure but not so long ago "race mixin" was unnatural and against gods laws.
