Why would it matter if it is temporary as long as you aren't causing them harm? That is fucking dumb. By the time I have teenagers it will be causing them undue emotional harm and endangering them by not allowing a cell phone or by taking one away

Shoot, in Kansas food and a bed aren't even a necessity. Sister's kids (3) were sleeping on the floor of the spare bedroom surrounded by dog feces. They got 1 meal a day. They rarely were bathed. The only reason they were taken away was because the 2 year old was found butt naked in the middle of winter on the neighbor's porch at 5 am for the SECOND time. The living conditions weren't in the agreement of what she had to do to get her kids back. ALL she had to do was take a class that after over a year she failed to do. Thankfully they were all adopted by a wonderful family.

No kidding, middle child called CPS on me once when I refused to spend 100.00 on ONE pair of jeans. Granted she flat out lied and said I refused to buy her ANYTHING.
So CPS calls and asks what's up. I told them she'd thrown a fit at the store over a 100.00 pair of jeans so she didn't get anything THAT day as we left the store.
Lady from CPS laughed and told me "Ya know, her clothes can come from the Goodwill and that's perfectly fine with us". I asked the CPS lady to please inform my daughter of that.
Next day we went to the Goodwill. She got three pairs of shorts, 10 tops and two pairs of jeans for 50.00. No complaints about it either, LOL!

And I absolutely have removed everything from my kids' rooms other than mattresses and a few clothes. They can't keep their rooms at least half clean, then apparently they have too much stuff.

And wow, can't believe she called CPS on you. I quoted this part because wow, that's cheaper than around here! I was looking for a couple of skirts to wear around the house and automatic minimum of $8 each, even the broken or seriously crazy outdated stuff. I think jeans are $10 or something, pretty crazy for USED jeans that aren't necessarily name brand. Shirts might have been around $6

I felt all kinds of special for finding Ann Taylor Loft jeans, in nearly new condition, for $6 here. Woohoo, something fancier than I'm used to, lol.

And my big sister used to beat the shit out of me and my little sister at the bus stop, then call CPS and say my mom did it. We almost got taken away so many times, and all because big sis was in trouble for being stupid and she wanted to get back at mom.

Grown ups should have enough control over their emotions to not act like passive-aggressive high-school girls when their teenagers act like teenagers. Teenagers will always act ungrateful and put upon, but if your 15 year old is a spoiled snot, it's your fault. It really is too bad more parents don't talk to their children.

Would that be a requirement for being able to recognize that another adult is acting like a butthurt drama queen? Because I don't have chimps either, but I know they can fling poop.

Wait, is it you with the crazy 2nd child, or is that gardenwitch? Either way, I feel like I should add that if your child is a borderline sociopath, that's probably not your fault. Unless that sort of thing is genetic.
