Bwhahaha!
I don't even know where to start!! All of mine had chores they weren't paid for (and always complained about) They all either had to be in sports or get a job once they could drive or no car privileges.
Only reason teen girls get up at 5 am to get ready for school is they spend 90 minutes in the dang bathroom, and two minutes eating something.
Bullet through the laptop...........OMG, I love it!!!

Nah, you sell it, they know you'll buy another one if you nag enough. Shoot it and they won't ask for another thing as long as they LIVE!!!!

I love him. The comments on it are amusing.
"So this mentally unstable dad invaded his daughter's privacy, read a comment that was frankly not that bad or unusual for a 15-year-old, and went beserk with a hand gun. Reminds me of the thought police in 1984. Maybe his boss should bug his house and put holes through his paycheck whenever he complains about work to his wife. ideasrule2 1 minute ago"
Invaded her privacy. She's 15. Privacy is not a right when you live in someone else's house and essentially borrow their property to go about your life.
"If you know this family, please call; DCFS. TheNintigod 2 minutes ago"
Because anything was inappropriate and deserving of the Department of Child and Family Services.
"Article 19 of the ICCPR states that "[e]veryone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference" and "everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice" Tell me where that says you can shoot your daughter's computer [regardless of ownership] for saying that?"
He can shoot HIS laptop if he damn well pleases. Regardless of ownership? Ok. All of your computers are mine once I touch them. I don't care that you bought it and you must check with me before doing anything with them again.
Just a few comments made by ignorant teenagers. At least some parents still do something for their kids instead of giving them a slap on the wrist. I know someone whose 13 yr old keeps getting in trouble for sexting. And yet she still has a cell phone. Misbehaving via technology has a simple fix. If you can't get through to the kid any other way remove their access, or in this case, shoot it.

He bought it, he can do whatever he wants with it.
All that electronic crap kids have nowadays is a PRIVILEGE, not a right. The only "rights" kids have are adequate food, clean serviceable clothing (which can come from the Goodwill) and shelter, anything else is an extra. That is straight FROM CPS, we dealt with them a lot with the middle child.

Im not allowing my kids to buy their own cells phones or computers, and they wont be gifts for bday or xmas. that way they cant say "its mine, you cant take it from me."
I agree with the dad although his execution was a little....rickety.

I tell both my kids everything in this house is mine (or ours if Mikes near me) and I just allow them to use it.

I, have on more than one occasion have threatened to empty the boys' rooms of EVERYTHING, including all furniture, with the exception of a mattress on the floor.
When I go into their rooms and there is dirty laundry on the floor, dirty dishes scattered about (they aren't even allowed to eat in their bedrooms!) and general disarray, I get crazy!
My Mother told me IF the boys tell anyone, they'll have to report it to CPS and I'd get in trouble.
I told my Mother I do not need to supply them anything more than a roof over their head, 3 meals a day and clean clothing. Anything else is a bonus. She tells me I'm wrong.

Your not wrong, one of the techniques for dealing with a ODD kid in a rage is to remove everything from their room, including the DOOR.
All they need is their bed/mattress, bedrooms are for SLEEPING in, you can take everything else out.
As long as it's temporary, (punishment for eating in their rooms after being told not to) CPS isn't going to care.
