Boobsy,
Were you the one who had this done? I'm having my first session next Thursday and I'm a little nervous They said the first time takes around 4hrs because they have to do it slowly to watch for allergic reactions. My SIL had it done and she said at first she felt like she was having trouble breathing but that passed, then she said she could taste the iron and she got really cold. Just wondering what you and anybody else has experienced. I have to have 4 sessions total and if my RBC does not come up enough then a blood transfusion will be necessary. I have been having a ton of other health issues since April and the Docs believe that something underlying is going on that has been causing my Anemia all of these years. Scary.
In April I started having headaches every single day. Doc put me on Antibiodics for a a month thinking it was sinus related. Didn't do anything. Then they put me on Fioracet...nadda. In July I started having shoulder pain and upper arm muscle pain and fatigue. In August I lost partial vision in my right eye for 7mins. Over the PHONE my Doc told me it was just an Ocular Migraine and that I was fine. My gut told me NO and I went to the ER. They admitted me, ran a ton of tests and found that my WBC was 14 which is high and that my inflammatory markers were also high. I went on prednisone, had a temporal biopsy which was negative for one disease but my symptoms have gotten worse and markers are still high. I am a total House case! I can't even walk around Walmart without taking a break because of the pain in my legs. I have put on weight from the steroids, my blood pressure is through the roof and it has never been high so the steroids have jacked that up as well which really freaks me out but doesn't seem to bother the Docs too much. I just hope that now that I am down to 5mgs of Prednisone my blood pressure will come down. Sorry for the long vent...thanks for reading and sharing any info that you can.
