I'd love to vent about this on Facebook so some of my friends and family can see but the guy's wife is on my Facebook.
The RS or whatever the name of the guy my husband has to go to first in his chain of command drives me insane! He's always butting in in ways I don't find relevant or appropriate. Almost treating my husband like some 18 year old fresh out of boot camp. My husband is nearly 29 and ranked first on every single fitness report he's ever had, he's no slacker and he doesn't need to be babysat. He's the only enlisted person in his office so he's automatically low man on the list but that by no means does that mean he's dumb or needs to be told what to do.
He asked if it would be possible to take tomorrow off. We just moved to post housing (so weird to say) and we really need to get these boxes unpacked. There are also some stores we'd like to go to that are packed on weekends so going during a weekday would be ideal. So he wanted to take a day of leave and even offered to drive farther out of our way down to Quantico to pick up some stuff they needed--during his time off on his own dime. Turns out he can't take the day off but he mentioned one of the stores we planned on going to was Ikea.
So the latest butting in?
The guy tells my husband that Ikea is too expensive since it won't last a move so we shouldn't buy there and gave us the name of a thrift store that we need to go to instead. From the way my husband worded it, it wasn't like a "oh hey, did you know Ikea isn't the best quality" or "have you ever tried this store?" It sounded more like he was almost ordering my husband not to go there. Who is he to tell us where we can and can't or should and shouldn't shop? It's our money and our decision.
I'm going there for a very specific item they didn't have last time. A large shelving unit (cubbies) to organize my fabric and sewing supplies. It's cheap, I love the layout, and it's what I want. I understand it may not (but could!) last a move and I'm making my decision knowing that it's still a good deal even if it doesn't last. Back the fuck off dude.
This guy does so many things that make me say WTF? that I'm beginning to wonder if he doesn't realize how he's coming off. I hope he doesn't really mean to treat us like he does. Maybe he thinks he's just being friendly and helpful but it sure comes off like we're dumb and need to be ordered around. It never sounds like he's just sharing information.
