I know it's not an emergency, but Karlie has been crying tonight that her "butt" (vagina) hurts. She's even been sometimes clinching her legs when she walks and cries and says ow. I've looked when I changed her diaper and it doesn't look like she has any rash or that it's red, but I did put some cream on it.
She'll be 2 this month. My niece has kidney problems and really bad infections so it kind of worries me when Karlie acts this way. We don't have any urgent care places, or any place open on the weekend. Do you think I should wait until Monday? Or go ahead and take her in to the ER this weekend?

If she continues to have discomfort, I'd take her in.

I'm the last one to tell somebody to go to the ER but I'd take her. She can't really communicate what she's going through so you have no idea how bad it might be. My initial guess is maybe a UTI and that's not fun for anybody, but I'd guess even harder for a child who doesn't understand.

Well, I took her last night and the labs came back normal. I don't know what was going on. I feel like the worst mom ever for making her have to go through all that for nothing I was just so worried that it was SOMETHING. They wouldn't let her pee for them so they had to cath I feel SO horrible. I know I'd feel more horrible though if I waited until Monday to do it only to find she had a really bad infection. **sigh** I can't win.

I'm sorry. But at least you know she's okay. Bright side is she won't remember any of it.

Are you sure it's not from her constipation? The clinching her legs makes me think of that. Did they check for that? When was the last time she pooped?

Her poops are always hard Maureen. She poops every day, she pooped yesterday. I told the ER dr that her poops are always really hard or pebbly (sp?). All he suggested was bran cereal.

Has her doctor not said anything about it? They gave us Miralax for cadence. I cut the amount to give her in half though because I didn't want her to have constant water poo. There has to be something they can do.

Nope, they just don't say anything about it.

I would ask for miralax. If you lived here I would just give you ours. I don't use it anymore.

i used to get the little pedialax strips for jacob. he always had horrible hard poops to the point of making his anus bleed profusely. i realized it was the milk doing it. switched him to almond milk, vanilla flavor (he calls it his cupcake milk)...no problems since. i still allow him to have yogurt and cheese and stuff, just not a ton of it.

I would not start her on miralax yet. Regardless you can get it over the counter, but seriously it's effing horrible crap. It makes your insides feel like slime. When our son was finally rx'd it I took the same dosage to get an idea of what he would be experiencing and HOLY HELL!!!!!
