Weaves are crazy expensive. If someone points out a welfarian being an ass hole for having a weave they shouldn't have to worry about being called racist.

Extensions for white people are crazy expensive. When you go to an "Ethnic" place and get them done it's pretty cheap. And they don't tell you that your hair has to be several inches long to do it.
If they were pointing out one person, fine. But that's not what it was about. It's making a general statement about a certain type of people and singling out 1 race within that certain type of people.

If you fall in the space where without aid you could not in any way make ends meet but with aid you have a bit extra, sure get your hair done. I think that person would be an embecile for not saving the money, but whatever. "Fucked up hair" has no baring on your quality of life so yeah if you accept aid there are likely a lot more important things to do with that money. The only scenario I would see somebody having a good argument in is if they could not fix their hair short in some way to look professional and they needed to look professional for a job. Hair, nails, cell phone, etc. are luxuries that you should not be putting a lot of extra money into if you are having trouble making ends meet. That's just poor decision making.

Maureen I agree that seems geared towards black people because weave is associated more with them. If it said extensions it would sound more all-encompassing.

I'm not black so I can't say this with extensive knowledge on the subject of ethnic hair but it's not like when we don't get our hair done. I mean I'm not sure how okay I would be walking around with a damn near bald head of hair with that texture to it. If they have a job that doesn't pay enough for medical care or whatever and that's why they have medicaid, they would still be expected to show up to work with proper personal appearance. I think with some woman like that it could include having a weave done or a wig. After a while sure they can have their hair natural but it takes a while to grow.
If it's purely fashionable then I agree; go without.

All I'm saying there are some things in life that are not necessities like food, shelter, clothes but you could go without but probably shouldn't. Like shampoo, it's not a necessity per se. Should white people who except aid just rinse with water? That would be the equivalent of a black person going without getting her hair done.
We've had this discussion a ziiiillllion times. I just always find it funny that people expect the people who get aid to live bare bones. I know that there are people that abuse the system yada yada but there are things in life that are not a necessity but you still need. And no I am not talking about getting nails done or buying purses.

Unless I am massively out of the loop and longer hair is needed for hygiene you fail at comparisons. Again, if it is for a job, GREAT! That includes any ethnicity who uses aid and goes and spends a stupid amount of money on hair. Sorry meanie but I think it is ludicrous that you are trying to say hair is a need. Bare bones because you're using aid? Not necessarily. If you can be healthy (that includes hygienic, adequate shelter, etc.) and live a sparse lifestyle without aid instead of abusing the system for luxuries should you? Fuck yes IMO. That is what the little picture was getting at. The maker just used a poor choice of words.

Welfare dregs shouldn't use that money for a luxury. Natural hair is free. Why cant po folks keep it real??

I have seen that movie. It goes into how crazy expensive weaves are. If a black chic can afford a weave and its upkeep good for her. But if she can't afford it the government shouldn't have to foot the bill for her insecurety.
