The only time I ever get anything is when DH is deployed. Last year he sent the most BEAUTIFUL bouquet of lilies I've ever seen. This year - nothing. But I got the kids a little chocolate and each of them a balloon. And Karlie got a small bouquet.

Maybe he is waiting for tonight? That's what we do. I'd rather give gifts when he his home from work. We are making the kids wait too lol

Or he could be like my husband, who believes that it is enough to show me all year long that he loves me... his love isn't based on the one day a year that commercialism says it should be (besides, we bought ourselves a keurig the other day and decided that was our present to each other LOL).

He might be waiting, like Jodi said.
I got a ring this year. I was shocked! We usually just do silly little gifts. I got him a dancing monkey, chocolate, and Stewie pj pants. LOL. R got a stuffed dinosaur.

He might be, but I'm 99% sure he's not. We're having dinner with my parent's tonight so by the time he gets off work and get home, takes a shower and then we go to my parents he wont have time to stop anywhere. The town where he works doesn't have any stores like that so he'd have to drive 20 minutes to town, 20 mins back and then he wouldn't be here on time. It's not a big deal. I'm not a Valentine's freak. It just would have been nice to get SOMETHING.

In years past I MIGHT get flowers or dinner out. he's not the romantic type by any means. This year he totally splurged and bought a bunch of charms for a new bracelet, but it was birthday and Valentines combined.
We went to Duck's for dinner Saturday, since I can't ever count on him getting home on weeknights by a certain time.

We show our love every day too, Jen. It's nice to have a day to go all out for your spouse and kids. I don't mean by buying expensive stuff. Just do things you don't have time to do every single day. I just made a cheesecake from scratch with girl scout cookie crust for my husband.
I think it's a happy person holiday.

We aren't doing gifts right now. Maybe later.
We did decide to go buy a pack of strawberries so we can cover them in chocolate. It will be fun.

Dh doesn't like chocolate so we usually dip them in sour cream and brown sugar. Kind-of weird but it's good!
I have no idea what to cook for tonight, we had risotto last night, so tonight's a no starch night.

I have no idea what to cook for tonight, we had risotto last night, so tonight's a no starch night. That sounds crazy weird, but I might have to try that. I liked seeing Karlie react to her Valentine's presents. I just got her a little $1 box of chocolates, then her little bouquet was just a $5 one from Walmart. It had 3 roses and then those filler lilies or whatever they are. It's really cute. The biggest hit was the balloons of course. Kellan popped his almost immediately. He bit a hole in it and then beat the shit (or air) out of it. LOL. He enjoyed it while it lasted though.

I gave Lily a couple stuffed animals. She was more impressed with the crinkled paper I put in the bottom of the bag lol
