uhg the baby in the dead mothers arms is like my ultimate depression inducer.  That's fucking sad and stupid. Does Tennessee have the death penalty? I hope so. |

Craziness!
On Feb 4th an old friend of mine committed suicide after learning via Facebook that his ex-girlfriend got married. Hung himself from a windmill in someone's yard. smh He had major drinking issues the last 10 yrs or so, I've heard of him drinking a gallon of vodka a day. Sad & crazy the things people do over FB posts.

Do you think he still would have killed himself if he found out some other way? Is it just Facebook, or these people just have problems anyway?
I've met some crazy ass people up in Tennessee near our land. I really don't think some of them are ready for the internet age quite yet!

I think he would have done it regardless. We were great friends when we were younger but I've only talked to him through FB and email a few times the last few years.... something just kept telling me to keep my distance. I'd rather remember him how he was, hanging out at the beach and surfing all day together. Since his death, I've learned a lot more about what's been going on in his life. Major alcohol binges, divorce, abuse, lots of petty crimes that have thrown him in jail multiple times, stalking of his ex & her friends. All of our mutual friends have said this week "I could see him crying out for help the last couple of years, but no one could get through to him. No one expected THIS." Had lunch w/ my old best friend yesterday who is friends w/ his ex. Apparently she was leading him on in December, there are pictures of them on his FB taken in December and then she gets married the beginning of Feb?!
Saturday they're doing a "float out" of his ashes at the beach. Going to be a very weird high school reunion of sorts. I haven't made up my mind if I'm going or not, it's all just surreal and everyone is so angry at him for doing this.
What's weird to me is, I can't find anything online or in our newspaper about it. Most found out through FB what happened, though several like me live only 1-2 miles from where he did it so that word of mouth traveled very quickly. Very busy street corner w/ a very recognizable house. His brother is a deputy sheriff, I'm not sure if he managed to keep it out of the paper or what. The guy that runs the paper here is a mutual friend from the same graduating year.
