Those of you that have one what do you use it for? Do you use it alot? I'm trying to justify buying one khols has a great deal on one. it was 399. on sale for 299. with 20% off, plus a 30dollar rebate, plus about 40 dollars in khols cash! so adding all that in it'd be less than 200bucks!

If you think you'll like it, get it! I'm told they last forever. I used to say that "one day" I'd want one. I had no actual desire for one anytime soon but I knew one day I would. My MIL bought me one for Christmas 2 years (3 Christmases) ago! It was really sweet and even though it wasn't at all the one I wanted, I'm very thankful for the generous gift. I hardly use it, but I hardly cook either and I don't bake at all. We do enjoy the optional shredder/grinder/slicer. It shred a huge block of cheese in minutes!

If anything buy it and sell it. I love ours. We have had it for 10 or so years and use it at least once a week. I grind up pork roast to make ground sausage and we use it to make cookies or really anything you would use a hand blender for.

I use mine for homemade bread and pizza dough, I make homemade fondant and buttercream, the mixing paddle shreds cooked meats easily. I have a grinder attachment to make my own hamburger and that is just so delicious. Get it. It will outlive you, maybe even outlive your grandchildren. Please get it, even if you don't use it often, it will be there for holiday dinners and its something you can pass down.

It's just the recipes that come in the kitchenaid recipe book that should have come with your mixer. I'll type them up when I get on the computer though.

Josh got me mine specifically for fresh bread. He said he didn't care if I ever used it for anything else, he just wanted the bread, lol.

It's well worth the investment.
Mine is 20 yrs old. I don't use it as often as I would like, but it will have a place on the counter when my kitchen is finished!

Basic White Bread
1/2 cup milk 3 TBSP sugar 2 tsp salt 3 TBSP butter or margarine
Heat this either in a pan on the stove or in the microwave, until butter is melted and sugar/salt have dissolved.
Warm your mixing bowl by running under hot tap water for a moment.
In the mixing bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups warm water 2 envelopes dry yeast (I use fleischmann's rapid rise)
Add milk mixture and 4 cups AP flour, turn mixer on low setting with dough hook. Mix about 2 minutes, and add up to 2 more cups flour until dough is no longer overly sticky and forms a ball around the hook.
Turn out into a greased bowl, flipping dough ball to coat in oil. Cover with towel, let rise 30 mins. Punch dough down, knead lightly on counter sprinkled with flour. Divide dough into 2 halves. Roll each half out, then tightly roll into a tube. Place in bread/loaf pan, greased. Bake at 400 degrees 25-30 mins. Immediately place loaves onto cooling rack.
Cinnamon bread variation After rolling dough halves out, before rolling into tube to place in bread pan, spread each flattened half with a little margarine or butter, then sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar mixed with 1 TBSP cinnamon across surface. Roll and bake as directed above.
Pizza Dough
1 envelope yeast 1 cup warm water 1/2 tsp salt 2 tsp olive oil 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 cups AP flour 1 TBSP cornmeal
Warm mixing bowl under hot tap water. Add water and yeast. Add salt, olive oil, and 2 1/2 cups flour, mix for about a minute. Add remaining flour until dough is no longer sticky and forms ball around hook.
Place dough into greased bowl, turning to grease top, let rise 30 mins.
Punch dough down. Brush pizza pan with oil, and sprinkle with cornmeal. Press dough across pan, forming a collar around edges to hold toppings. Add toppings as desired, bake at 450 for 15-20 minutes.

Mine is about 25 years old, maybe older. It was used in my mom's little restaurant that she had before she gave it to me when I got married. Still works like a dream! I have found a better steam cleaner than the steam mop. It gets hotter & it's easier to use. I used to love my shark, but now it hurts my wrist & it's a pain w/ a house that is almost all tile. It's the Eureka Enviro-Steamer. The husband now steam cleans the floors, he wouldn't w/ the shark. The shark was fine for our smaller house in NC, but not this one. This one is on sale now too, I paid $20 more for it a few months ago. Bummer! lol www.amazon.com/Eureka-Enviro-Hard-Surface-Steamer-313A/dp/B001LYFBHG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328289910&sr=8-1
