Ugh, I am so tired of getting the run around and being told NOTHING for the last 9 months. Seriously. We were getting letters once a month saying that DH's claim was being processed, well we stopped getting these letters. I called the VA a couple months ago and they everything is fine, it's getting processed but the local VA rep says that the regional office can't find his file. WHAT THE FUCK. We went through all the bullshit to have me as an authorized person to get information because DH hates doing shit and calling people himself, I finally get through to the VA today and guess what? They wont tell me shit because suddenly I'm not authorized.
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

He is. Finally. It just pisses me off! It doesn't matter how many times he authorizes me to know stuff, the next time I call I'm suddenly not authorized even though I know the password, ssn and all that jazz. I just want some answers and to make sure that they still have his claim. It's like shit, you can't even just let me know that the claim is still there?

they're pains in the ass and will do everything within their power to avoid paying.
i went and filed a claim before i was even discharged from the air force. they told me because i was getting severance pay, that amount would need to be withheld, meaning i wouldnt get disability checks for 3-4 years. so i just hung out and waited, was getting mail every few months from them. after 4 years i went into the office to find out what the status was and they had LOST my initial claim (of course i couldn't find my copy either) and i had to redo everything and wait another 3 years before i started getting paid, and they refused to backdate it because according to their system I had never filed a claim before. none of the mail they sent me had my claim number on it either. assfaces.

He talked to one lady and she said his claim is in the Developing Stage. Whatever that is. She also said that she was going to contact someone (hopefully the regional office) to get a hold of him within 10 business days.
So, hopefully we'll find something out. I understand that there is a huge wait, I just want to talk to the regional office to make sure that they still have his claim. The local VA guy here is a freaking nut case so I can't listen to a damn word he says.

Probably. I called the local VA office because that's where he did his initial paperwork, well the guy there now is new and not certified to go ANYTHING and he has also been waiting on his claim for SEVEN YEARS. He made me want to climb over the phone and smack the shit out of him.

Go talk to Disabled American Veterans. They're like a free lawyer/liaison between the veteran and the VA. It will get fixed lickety split. Should be one right in the VA office.

I'm not sure if it's because my DH retired but we had no issue with his VA benefits. They started one month after he retired. Now he has had a few questions come up regarding his GI Bill and going to school and when he calls he is on hold for at least an hour and then gets disconnected or has to hang up due to work or school or driving. Sorry you are having such a hard time.

DH filed in October and has had all of his appointments done since December. I understand it takes a long time, I get that. But at first they told us it usually takes x amount of days, then we'd call to get another update and it'd be in the same stage and it usually takes x amount of days. Well, after all this time it's still in the SAME spot. And it doesn't matter who you call or who you talk to, nobody ever knows ANYTHING.

Sorry you are having such a hard time. How did he manage that? My husband is set to retire 8/31 and was told 90 days after his retirement date, he will find out if and what his percentage is. Then it could take up to 9 months to see anything. His medical record is over 200 pages long with validated claims so there will be no issues with that. The doctor that did his VA physical said it was one of the most complete records he'd seen. Is there a secret??lol

Well some VA dude from the regional office in Des Moines called DH and said that they were waiting on paperwork for a whole bunch of records, which just leads me to believe it's fucking lost somewhere. Can't get on ebenefits and ever do anything because he has a basic account. Can't change it to the premium account because it wont let us. We call the VA, they tell us to call another number, call the other number and they tell us to call the VA. I wish I could just fucking march into there and fucking rip their heads off.
ALL I want to know is that his file is SOMEWHERE. Somewhere that is supposed to be. I don't care if it's the 5,000th in line, I want to know IT IS THERE.

All they say is "It's in the Development Stage". Well that's cool and all, but do you still actually have it? Or did it get lost in the mail on the way to Des Moines? Causeeee Des Moines is waiting for it.

I'm not sure how or why it went so smoothly. I do know that he went to all of his appointments for evaluation and stuff before his retirement date. He retired out of Pendleton, not sure if that makes a difference lol. I just know that He retired at the end of July, started getting his retirement pay the next month and if I remember correctly (it's been 2yrs) he got his first VA pmt October 1st for the month of September. I remember getting the letter with his percentage and everything not long after he retired.
