Had an appointment with our realtor to just go looky loo at some possibilities in case the Camino Rubano house went south tomorrow.
We get just outside the Fallbrook gate (two lane road in booneyville Fallbrook) and there's a truck stopped dead in the road, the car in front of us pulls to the right to go around him and HE stops dead in the road. WTH? We are now stuck behind these two with nowhere to go.
Then Dh says "There's a kid in the road". Ok, so at that point I'm looking for a teenager on his skateboard or something, fairly common for that area.
IT'S A TODDLER!!!!!!! He walked from one side of the road to the other in front of the truck and the car!!! He then starts walking down the dirt side area to the INTERSECTION! I told Charley to pull over, ripped my seatbelt off and scooped him up just as HE STEPPED into the intersection!! The two guys in the other vehicles get off the road and everyone starts looking for MOM!
She came out about 5 minutes later, hispanic, very little english but obviously upset and freaking out. So the little guy made it back home safe but OMG!! We had several cars just FLY by us while we were standing near the stopped vehicles and they never even glanced to see if something was wrong!
So.....we get back in our truck and call our realtor to let him know we were going to be late. He tells us we did a good deed for the day, he would make sure something got done for us today! Then he says the seller TRIED (but didn't succeed!) to pick up our earnest money check on Friday AFTER all the questions we asked about the appraisal and sq ft difference and that we would get back to him on Monday. Sounding pretty hinky right?
So we meet up with our realtor, check out some houses, and hit a new construction that we had seen some info on. Low taxes, low HOA, every house has solar built in, it's NOT an option! Plus a buttload of incentives and bonus incentives for military as well. And a 10 year home warranty.
So we did it, put down the initial deposit, we go back Thursday with a cashiers check and to discuss which financing options we want to use (theirs or our pre-approval) make our flooring choices, and sign a billion pieces of paper!
This evening our previous seller got a sweet little present for jerking us around......formal cancellation of our offer! ;D
