Proceeding at a snails pace. I swear it's 11:00 am before Dh can get his butt around and we hit the road. Dogs and I are up at 8, take a walk, shower, hair and ready to go by 9. Then he wants to stop three times in like 2 hours! I asked him 10 times before we left to replace the tires on the camper, he never did. So of course I threw a tread on the way out of Cullowhee (WCU where kiddo is) on Tuesday. LOL, I made him buy two new tires, instead of one. Today he drove through Nashville on the I 40 at 5:00 pm instead of taking the I 440 around as I suggested, GRRRRRRRRRR...... he's driving the Penske towing his car, I'm following in my pickup towing the camper.....oh what fun THAT was in traffic! NOT! I had to lock it up when some chick tried to run me off the road. HOW do you NOT see a big truck towing a camper? Then Dh decided we would camp at natchez (?) we get off the hwy and go miles down this road into the woods, no food type places, no gas stations and I was pushing E in the pick up. GRRRRRRRR I turned around 5 miles down this road, called him and said I was headed back to the freeway and he could meet up with me in Memphis!! The man has lost his decision making powers for the rest of the trip.

Good thing you're in separate vehicles.
If it were me, husband would have been "lost" in those woods! ;D

My husband and I are awesome at driving. We leave at 6 am and drive for about 12-13 hours depending on how the kids are acting, have a semi normal evening in the hotel and then wake up at 6 am and do it again. That's just how it works for us though Except for when he EASed and then the rear end went out of the truck in Shelbyville, KY and we were stranded for 3 days while it got fixed.

I didn't think Natchez Trace went to Memphis? I believe it goes to Mississippi.. I could be wrong though. It's like the back roads of all back roads. Good Luck!
ETA- Oh my bad I just noticed you said you were going to camp there. LOL I can't read!

The last few days have been good, we beat all the bad weather through Oklahoma and Texas (tornados) we set a destination and stuck to it, I was able to get him awake and on the road by 9. We stop when I get tired or my hands cramp up and take a break, walk the dogs, get something to eat etc. Stop for the night around 6 or 7 before dark to get the camper set up, walk the dogs before bed. Tonight we are in a hotel (only the second time, the rest have been in the camper) in Gallop, New Mexico. The dogs have behaved GREAT, having a great time meeting horses, and a BUFFALO in Oklahoma!
The reason why we are in a hotel tonight is we fought a dust storm with 60+ MPH across most of the state since this morning, then as we neared the mountains, it turned to a snowstorm!! We wanted to spend tonight and tomorrow night at the Grand Canyon, now we have to wait and see what the weather is like tomorrow, it's saying more snow in the morning. So today was slow again but it wasn't his fault :-) We are hearing from some of the truckers that the 40 is closed at some point near Flagstaff unless you have chains......

We skipped the Grand Canyon, it was snowing/raining up there and 30 degrees on Sunday. No Thanks!!!!
We made it here Monday, people here drive CRAZY. Some lady yakking on her cell phone actually tried to cut IN BETWEEN the penske truck and the car hauler!!! WTF???
I don't think she even LOOKED, I laid on my horn, she looked sideways and probably shit her pants by the look on her face, ROFLMAO!! Dh had NO clue she was even there!
Househunting is discouraging, we found two we both like (regular sale) and were pretty much outbid. I'm not paying more than I'm comfortable with!! We have some brand new houses to look at today, a couple have electric solar (huge plus!) and some foreclosures in good shape. We are #3 on the SLR waiting list in case we can't find anything we can get a deal on in the next few weeks.
Maureen, fill up on gas before you hit the California border....OMG..... gas went up a whole DOLLAR in Needles just because there's no other choices out there, it's about $4.15 here on base.
