Is complaining about the "long drive with 2 kids" from Houston to Louisiana. Try a 20 hour drive from Houston to Jacksonville with 2 kids, a husband, a St. Bernard and 2 cats. I hate being the person that's like "you're sucky situation isn't as bad as my sucky situation" but I'm feeling extra PMS-y right now so I just want to tell her to STFU.

e-slap some reality back into her and explain people drive coast to coast to PCS all the time with their entire family/pets/belongings so you're sure she'll be OK

I'd be all passive aggressive and say something like "oh, I know how hard that can be. Driving home to visit family takes 20 hours and costs us $200 in gas. Sometimes I wish cars could fly."........right out of your ass

Eh. I hate the drive from Jacksonville to Chicago just as much as I hate the drive from Jacksonville to northern GA. It all sucks.

I don't even like driving to New Bern or Greenville anymore. I want to stay in my house and hide.

I drove from Jacksonville to S. FL 14 times in 2009, 11 of those by myself & always in one day. Over 700 miles each way. I hate driving now.

We drove from Washington State out here to NC when DH retired. It was the longest damn trip ever! Moving truck towing a car, cat, dog, the boys, my parents with their big Ford truck and 5th wheel and me driving my car. When we went to Raleigh last weekend for the concert that was the first time we have driven any "distance" in over a year lol.

So I probably shouldn't complain when I have to drive to FL with 1 kid and 1 dog in Dec? lol It sucks. I hate that drive. You can complain. It takes forever to get to I-95 from Jax. Have you looked at airline tickets? I hadn't because in the past they had been pretty expensive. But now, depending on where you are going, you can get a round trip ticket for around the same cost as it would be to drive.

I hate driving and the furthest I've ever driven by myself is to Wilmington. So this is going to interesting.

Well, it's usually a little faster catching I-95 going towards Raleigh. I-40 or whatever that road is. You'll actually go a little north & it seems like you're going out of your way, but it really is faster. Do you live on base? I lived in Williamsburg Plantation, so it was really quick to just head that way on Gumbranch. I've taken 74 & 76 before and one of those takes you through a REALLY REALLY rough area & I had to stop & get gas once. Got approached by some thug once & I high tailed it out of there. You can also go south towards Wilmington & take the bypass but again, that puts you out on a 2 lane road in the middle of nowhere with usually bad cell reception.
Where in FL are you going?

I live in the downtown area and am going to Jacksonville.
When my DH and I go we take 17 to 95 but I want to take the quickest way to 95 this time around.
